About Vihara Foundation
A registered public charitable trust dedicated to institutional governance, statutory ROC compliance, corporate tax advisory, and capacity building for Farmer Producer Companies across India.
Our Background
Bridging the Governance Gap for Farmer Companies
Over the past decade, thousands of Farmer Producer Companies were incorporated across India with ambitious economic goals. Yet on the ground, many early-stage FPCs run into severe statutory bottlenecks: unnumbered share certificates, unmaintained statutory registers, delayed ROC filings, and improper grant accounting.
While commercial corporations rely on in-house legal and accounting departments, rural farmer collectives often work with limited administrative resources and struggle to find professional guidance tailored to the Producer Company provisions of the Companies Act.
Vihara Foundation was established to bridge this institutional divide. We bring together practicing Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries, and experienced FPC directors to provide accessible compliance guidance, practical toolkits, and structured board education.
Registered on 6 January 2025 (Doc no. VJN-4-00371-2024-25, Sub-Registrar Vijayanagara, Bengaluru). Dedicated exclusively to governance support, compliance training, and capacity building for farmer institutions.
What Guides Our Work
Our Vision
A rural economy where Farmer Producer Companies operate as legally resilient, transparently governed enterprises that safeguard farmer member interests.
Our Mission
To make statutory secretarial standards, double-entry accounting, and proper tax planning practical and accessible for every FPC board and management team.
Our Approach
We work directly on actual statutory records: reconciling member share folios, standardizing Tally ledger structures, drafting AGM notices, and preparing proper grant documentation under AS 12.
Values
What We Stand For
Operating principles that guide our work with farmer boards, accountants, and rural enterprises.
Farmer First
Every recommendation must protect the rights and savings of the primary producer members who own the company.
Statutory Integrity
Clean books, timely filings, and strict adherence to Chapter XXIA of the Companies Act 2013 and tax statutes.
Practical & Ground-Tested
Guidance tailored to rural boardrooms and local accountants, using straightforward procedures rather than complex corporate jargon.
Institutional Independence
As an irrevocable public charitable trust, we do not trade commodities or take commercial equity positions in the FPCs we assist.
